Allow me to lay some of these questions to rest and shed some light on poker rakeback. Let us first begin with defining poker rake.

Poker Rake – this is the fee given to the online poker room where you are playing at. The poker rake is the online poker room’s cut for providing the game and a place for you to play at, their percentage. Online poker rooms generate revenue regardless of who wins the hands, so it is absurd when players accuse online poker rooms of fixing the cards when they get bad beats. It makes no difference to the online poker room who wins because they earn the same rake regardless of the outcome. The rake in poker tournaments is typically a percentage of the buyin amount. For example, a $1 buyin game will have a fee of $0.10 so it will cost you $1.10 to participate in the tournament. The rake held by the online poker room is generally 10% for tournaments which is significantly less than land based poker rooms, especially in tournaments where the online poker room is adding money into the prize pool. Online poker rooms typically do not make much money off of individual tournaments they hold, online poker rooms earn their money when they hold a lot of single tournaments making a little bit off of each one, like the Wal-Mart business model.

If you are only playing one tournament every few days, then you might not care much about how much you are contributing in rake to the online poker room, however if you are a grinder and you find yourself playing quite often, you could be contributing as much as $100/week to these only poker rooms because you pay rake regardless of whether you are winning or on tilt and this is where Rakeback offers come in to the picture.

The man, the legend, who goes by the name “MrElPaso” will be able to afford a lot more salsa over the coming weeks. You’re hearing it here first poker fanatics, the Bodog Poker Open is gearing up to rip it up again. The week-long poker tournament series will give players a chance to take down the whole tournament as BPO Champion for as little as $1.

Bodog has just recently announced details for the 4^th installment of the Bodog Poker Open tournament. BPO IV kicks off Nov.1^st – 8^th, 2009.

What is different from the previous 3 BPO’s you might ask? Well let us tell you!

With BPO IV, Bodog is offering two parallel, week-long series:

Contender Series – The Bodog Contender Series consists of lower-stakes buyin games

Championship Series – The Bodog Championship Series will be comprised of a higher-stakes buyin games, with $60,000 in added prize money and guaranteed media exposure for the champion. Jump at your chance to finally make something of yourself!

Everyone in the Poker world is excited about this, including Bodog Pro, David Williams.

“With the Bodog Poker Open IV, Bodog is giving online poker players of all levels a chance to strike it rich and gain major exposure as the next Bodog Poker Open Champion.”

 Now this is the part you need to listen up and pay attention!

The BPO IV Championship Series kicks off Sunday, Nov. 1 at 4pm EST with the 1^st of 7 events. The Bodog Poker Open IV Contender Series runs during the same time period and features all the action of the Championship Series but with smaller buy-ins. If you haven’t heard by now, Bodog is celebrating 15 years of success this year and they have a lot of things in store to celebrate. The latest celebration is a 15 day poker celebration.

The series includes 15 days of qualifying tournaments and culminates with $15,000 Freeroll on October 15

It was 15 years ago that Bodog opened its doors to the world and to celebrate this landmark achievement with online poker players, Bodog is hosting its 15 Days of Poker Tournament Series, a series of 15 qualifying tournaments culminating with a final freeroll event on Oct. 15 where a group of lucky players will battle it out for a share of a $15,000 prize pool.

“For 15 years, Bodog has been a leader in the online gambling industry, giving players a superior gaming experience while awarding billions in prizes,” says Bodog Poker Pro David Williams. “And Bodog’s 15 Days of Poker tournament series gives online poker players a fun and profitable way to celebrate this colossal achievement with Bodog.”

Bodog’s 15 Days of Poker gets underway today on Monday, Sept. 21 with 15 days of qualifying tournaments running through Monday, Oct. 5. Each of the 15 qualifying tournaments will take place at 8:15 pm EST and feature buy-ins ranging from $5 to $15. A variety of Texas Holdem formats will be offered, including No Limit, Pot Limit, Fixed Limit, Turbo events, super-turbo events and re-buy events.

The prize pool in each qualifying tournament will be distributed the same way it would be in a regular Bodog tournament, but the top 30% of finishers from each event will earn Tournament Leaderboard Points, which determine who moves on to the 15 Days of Poker Semi Final and the $15,000 Final Tournament.

The Semi Final Tournament will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8:15 pm EST, with the field consisting of those placing in 16th to 115th place on the 15 Days of Poker leaderboard as well as players who have competed in at least 10 qualifying events. The top 15 finishers in the Semi Final earn an automatic entry into the $15,000 Final Tournament. The winner also gets a seat in the weekly Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed online poker tournament, and the remaining top 14 finishers each win a seat in a $100,000 qualifier.

Bodog’s 15 Days of Poker celebration culminates on Oct. 15 at 8:15 pm EST with the $15,000 Final Tournament. In addition to the top 15 finishers from the Semi Final, the freeroll event will be open to players placing 1 through 15 on the 15 Days of Poker leaderboard and those who competed in at least 15 qualifying tournaments. The $15,000 prize pool will be distributed in usual tournament fashion, and the top 15 finishers will also win T$162 to play in the Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed, held every Sunday at 4:00 pm EST.
